Dr. Joseph C. Atkinson

Associate Professor of Sacred Scripture
John Paul II Institute at The Catholic University of America

Dr. Atkinson's work has included foundational research in developing the Biblical and theological basis of the Domestic Church, an ancient idea which has achieved critical prominence since Vatican II. He teaches on the Biblical structure of marriage and the family, on hermeneutics and the role of symbol, on the Jewish background of the family, and on the nature and role of covenant. He has produced a 13-part series with EWTN on the Domestic Church and has authored numerous articles on Scriptural exegesis and the Biblical vision of the family. His work also includes "The Revelation of Love in the Song of Songs" in The Way of Love (Ignatius Press) and "Family as Domestic Church: Developmental Trajectory, Legitimacy and Problems of Appropriation" (Theological Studies).

Fr. Patrick Brady

Fr. Patrick Brady has worked as a priest ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1993. He received his Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, and his Doctorate in Sacred theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Since 2001 he has served as a professor of theology at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, where he currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Scripture. Fr. Brady has given a number of lectures relating to the study and exegesis of Sacred Scripture, including: “The Lucan Portrait of Jesus” and “Paul, Inventor or Disciple of Jesus?” His dissertation, The Process of sanctification in Christian life: A Theological-exegetical Study of 1Thess 4:1-8 and Rom 6:15-23, is currently awaiting publication.

Fr. Pablo Gadenz

Father  Pablo  Gadenz studied  at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome where he received his S.S.L. and at the Pontifical Gregorian University where he earned his Doctorate in Sacred Theology. He teaches various New Testament courses at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology in South Orange, New Jersey.  He serves as a mentor on the seminary's Formation Faculty.  Father Gadenz's research focuses on rhetorical analysis of Paul's Letters and the study of Paul's use of Scripture. His published doctoral dissertation examines Paul's ecclesiology in Romans 9-11, taking into account the Old Testament background of these chapters. Ordained in 1996, Father Gadenz is a priest of the Diocese of Trenton, and assists on weekends at Christ the King Parish inLong Branch, NJ.

 

Dr. Tim Gray

Dr. Tim Gray is the President and professor at the Augustine Institute and Professor of Sacred Scripture at the St. John Vianney Theological Seminary. He holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from Catholic University of America. Dr. Gray's dissertation The Temple in the Gospel of Mark: A Study in its Narrative Role is forthcoming from Mohr Siebeck. He is author of several books, and has partnered with Jeff Cavins in the development of The Great Adventure Bible Study Series. A nationally know speaker, Dr. Gray has filmed numerous series for EWTN. Dr. Gray resides in Denver, Colorado with his wife Kris and their son Joseph.

Dr. Mary Healy

Associate Professor of Sacred Scripture Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Archdiocese of Detroit

Mary Healy received a BA from the University of Notre Dame in 1986, an MA in theology from Franciscan University in 1988, and an MA in philosophy from the Catholic University of America in 1991. She earned a licentiate at the International Theological Institute in Gaming, Austria, and completed her doctorate in biblical theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 2000.

Dr. Healy has taught at the Institute for Pastoral Theology at Ave Maria University and the Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College. She is the author of Men and Women Are from Eden: A Study Guide to John Paul II's Theology of the Body and co-editor of three books on biblical interpretation:  Behind the Text: History and Biblical Interpretation; Out of Egypt: Biblical Theology and Biblical Interpretation; and The Bible and Epistemology. She is general editor (with Dr. Peter Williamson) of the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture, and is author of the first volume, The Gospel of Mark (2008).

Dr. Edward Sri

Provost and Professor of Theology and Scripture, Augustine Institute

Dr. Edward Sri is a nationally-known Catholic speaker who appears regularly on EWTN and is the author of several best-selling books. He is a founding leader with Curtis Martin of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). He is provost and professor of theology and Scripture at the Augustine Institute's Master's in Evangelization and Catechetics program in Denver, Colorado, and he regularly writes and speaks on Scripture, marriage and the Catholic faith. He also serves as a visiting professor at Benedictine College, where he taught full-time for nine years. Edward holds a doctorate from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He resides with his wife Elizabeth and their five children in Littleton, Colorado.

Rev. Jeffrey Steenson

Carl and Lois Davis Visiting Professor in Patristic Studies, University of St. Thomas

Fr. Jeffrey Steenson serves at the University of St. Thomas and the Center for Faith and Culture as the Carl and Lois Davis Visiting Professor in Patristic Studies.  He studied patristics as an Anglican seminarian at Harvard Divinity School and in the University of Oxford, where he earned the D.Phil. in theology in 1983.  During the next twenty-five years in the Anglican ministry as parish priest and bishop, the Church Fathers continued to be an inspiration and guide.  They were instrumental in his decision to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church in 2007, together with his wife Debra.  Through the Pastoral Provision created by Pope John Paul II,  he was ordained to the priesthood in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe  Feb. 21, 2009.  The Steensons have three adult children.

Dr. Carol Younger

Carol Younger holds a Doctorate in Education and and is a specialist in teaching and catechetics.  Her background in parish catechesis and ministry, as well as her expertise in public education, give her a competitive edge in this topic.  She served in public secondary education as a teacher, counselor and administrator, as well as currently an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University where she teaches prospective teachers, counselors, and psychologists. At the University of Sacramento, she teaches catechetics and education.
